Interim Pastor: Buddy Morehead

Pastor Buddy is a Cleveland County native and has served churches in the county now for 25 years. He has been married to his wife Meredith for 40 wonderful years. They have served God together, side by side, as they have raise three beautiful daughter, Melissa, Maggie, and Meghan. They are now the proud grandparents of five grandchildren. Pastor Buddy graduated from Gardner Webb University in 2006 with a degree in Religious Studies and Sociology. He was ordained into the ministry on October 7, 1999. In 2009 Pastor Buddy and Meredith were called of God to serve the Honduras Baptist Dental Mission just outside San Pedro, Honduras. They served for three years fielding medical mission teams and overseeing the construction of the HBDM Medical and Dental facility in El Plan, Honduras. They both enjoy loving people and spending time camping.

 

 

 

 

Music Minister: Ken Brooks

Kenneth Brooks received the Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Gardner- Webb University and the Master of Arts in Education from Appalachian State University. He also received School Administration and Supervision Certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Brooks is retired from teaching public school music after 35 years of service. Mr. Brooks became choral director of Crest Senior High School in the fall of 1977 and held that position for 31 years. During that time, Crest choral groups consistently received Superior ratings at State Contest Festivals. Crest choral groups have served as guest choirs at Western Carolina Choral Festivals, Brevard College Community Concert Series, Gardner-Webb Choral Clinic, and selected to perform at the Holiday Cand1e1i%t Tour at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. Choirs from Crest participated in choral festivals in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and the Bahamas. In 1998 and in 2003 the Crest Choir was awarded the Grand Champion of the Fiesta-Val Choral Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1991 and 2003 the Crest Choir performed at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference.  Mr. Brooks serves as an adjudicator for NCMEA Choral Festivals and has conducted All-County Clinics in Iredell, Gaston, Surry, Wilkes, Rockingham, Cabarrus, Cumberland, and Rutherford counties.

 

Mr. Brooks was one of the guest clinicians at Bonclarken Summer Music Camp at Flat Rock, North Carolina in 2010. Mr. Brooks is a member of the North Carolina Music Educators Association where he is a Past-Chairperson of the High School Choral Section, Music Educators National Conference, and a member of the American Choral Directors Association. Mr. Brooks was the 1998 Rotary Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the 1998 and 2005 Time Warner Star Teacher Award and was selected the 2004-2005 Crest High School Teacher of the Year. Mr. Brooks was awarded the 2005 Distinguished Graduate Award by Gardner Webb University.  Mr. Brooks is currently the conductor for the Cleveland County Choral Society and has held that position since 2001.

 

 

 

Family Minister: Kaitlyn Moss

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Moss. I am from Shelby, NC, and I currently live in Boiling Springs, NC. I recently graduated from Gardner Webb University in December 2021, with my Bachelor's Degree in Discipleship Studies, and in January 2022 I plan on starting my Masters of Divinity at Gardner Webb University. I love the Lord with all my heart and my biggest goal in life is to serve Him and love how He loves. I have a big passion for children and youth, and I look forward to serving here at Lattimore Baptist Church. 

Secretary: Russell Henkel

Russell lives in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. He is originally from Galion, Ohio. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance from The Ohio State University. He also has an Associate's degree in Computer Programming from Isothermal Community College and an Associate's Degree in Medical Office Administration from Cleveland Community College. He has twin sons, Jeremy and Jonathan. Jeremy graduated from Duke University and Jonathan graduated from Wake Forest University. Russ has three dogs, Cooper, Elon and Graham. Russ enjoys quilting and playing golf. He is also starting a business in January 2022 called Henkel App and Game Developers in memory of his wife, Lana, who died of stomach cancer.
